Happy Spring from South River Miso
Spring is such a joyful time for us in the Northeast after the cold snowy winter. It’s a delight to watch the brown grass turning green and the robins searching eagerly for worms.
It’s time to throw off the winter heaviness and add lighter, fresher foods to our diet. South River Miso is wonderful in dips, spreads, and in salad dressings for those fresh new lettuces and red radishes.
This ancient food is a healthy organic source of vegetable protein, enzymes and natural probiotics which may aid in digestion and boost our immune systems. It adds a special salty and sweet flavor to every recipe.

We do not ship our unpasteurized miso without refrigeration in the warmer months, so please:
Order by April 23rd for UPS ground shipping to southern and western states (regions B, C, & D in map below).
Order by May 25th for region A and for UPS 2nd Day Air shipments to any location.
Our regular shipping season will resume in October 2025.
Avocado Apple Salad with Miso Honey Dressing
Celebrate the fresh awakening of Spring with a lively green salad tossed with Miso Honey Dressing.
Dressing Ingredients
¼ cup apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
2 cloves garlic, chopped
2 tbsp raw red onion, chopped (optional)
¼ cup parsley, chopped
2 tsp honey
2 tbsp Sweet Tasting Brown Rice Miso (or use Sweet White Miso or any of the Light Miso varieties)
2/3 cup sesame or light vegetable oil
1-2 tbsp water (as needed)
Directions
1. In a blender add all ingredients in the order given above-except the oil. Blend until smooth.
2. Next, add the oil in a slow, steady stream with the blender on low to medium speed. Add water if a thinner dressing is desired.
This dressing is also delicious on pasta, grain dishes or cooked vegetables.
Salad Ingredients
Serves three or four
5-6 cups of mixed spring salad greens
½ green apple, cut in thin slices
1 avocado cut into bite size pieces
2 tbsp dried cranberries
2 tbsp pitted Kalamata olives
2-3 tbsp crumbled Feta cheese
Directions
Toss all ingredients. Add Miso Honey Dressing and lightly toss. Yum!
